Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"So I gave this place four stars. Most of the time the food is a 5 star but it depends on the time of day you go the closer to the evening the more lack it gets. The margaritas aren't that strong either they taste a little watered down. They have one bathroom and it's outside which sucks if it's raining or cold but not something to hold against them as it was there before they were. Service is good on most days I feel they could be a little bubbly maybe loosen up and relax and not be so stiff cause the staff are nice people. I love the decor and I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the holiday stuff they put in the window it makes me happy each time I drive by. It's something I look for. The only thing that isn't the greatest which I think they fixed is when I went there in the summer they didn't have AC. However, do give them a try."
"To be completely upfront, I did not dine in, and I don't think that I would like to in general, but that is my own personal bias. It is not that the restaurant is openly filthy or there is anything wrong, is just a relatively small space with a fairly open kitchen, which makes it a little bit Smokey, and that personally bothers me. I know it doesn't bother a lot of people, and a ton of people get things like sizzling, fajita plates and Etc. So if the smoking is potentially coming from the kitchen isn't going to bother you, I think this restaurant will be fine to dine in. In fact, I think it would be lovely. It's a cute little local place, and I have nothing against them. Just if you don't like the small atmosphere of a small family restaurant that doesn't have a closed off kitchen, it probably isn't for you, and for me personally, I do not like that kind of atmosphere just because it is a bit too claustrophobic for me. So I'm getting out ahead of my four stars on atmosphere and saying that is likely my own personal bias. It is just not something I care for because I do not like greasy smoky smells. That said, everything else about the restaurant was fantastic. I walked up here on a whim one day because my roommate really wanted Tex-Mex food and they actually have a Tex-Mex plate which I did try some of and it was truly phenomenal. The restaurant staff was very nice, they were accommodating for his shellfish allergy, and happily swapped the shrimp for some extra grilled veggies, which was super nice of them and very flexible, I obviously can't promise they would do that every single person, but I had a very pleasant experience and we both enjoyed our meals very much. Like I said it's a small local restaurant so if you can support them, please please do, a lot of the weight. Staff are high school/ college age, and they're just trying to make a living like everybody else. So saw a few people in the restaurant and they seem to be having a lovely time, I chatted at the counter while I waited for my food, they were super nice, they put the guac in a separate dish because I had to walk in the 95° heat and we knew it would get melty, I have no complaints about this place, also, if you have a good tolerance for heat and you don't want the open kitchen atmosphere, they do have outdoor seating available. I do not know how often it's used? As this was my first time there, and there was nobody seated outside, but I suspect they wouldn't have a problem with the request to sit outside? All of the food was bang on, very tasty, and be chef was accommodating, the front of the house. Staff was lovely, my roommate loved his meal, I very much enjoyed my burrito, if you like American Mexican places, this place is banging. There seems to be some misconception that they're closing? That is not the case. So check them out if you have the chance! I really recommend it. I wish I had taken pictures of the food because it was delicious, but we ate it way too fast for that lol"
"Absolutely phenomenal!!! I never give ratings but I'm beside myself and happy to say I have my first go to spot for Mexican!!! Must try! I'm absolutely blown away. Very homey comfort, amazing service and the food is just by far out of this world for how affordable it is"
"We visit frequently, and the most recent was on Mother's Day. They had a cute little photo op for moms. The food was nice as always, I had the birria tacos for the first time, a new favorite! At the end of the meal, they gifted the moms with a rose each, VERY nice, and very much appreciated gesture. The staff is always friendly and welcoming but I don't agree with the staff table right at the entrance with 4 of them on their phones. Over all, highly recommend."
"We are staying at lake greenwood and saw this place on the way in. Glad we came back to check it out. We enjoyed the quaint setting and delicious food. We had the guacamole and queso for appetizers along with margaritas. For dinner we had the tres amigos and the beef chiliquiles. Both dishes were excellent!"
"Never disappoints when we go, food is always great!"
"The food is good and the menu is extensive. Sometimes it's a little too warm in there. We like it. They do not sell any alcohol beverages on Sunday."
"Such a great place for Mexican food that is much more convenient than driving all the way to town from Lake Greenwood. This place is on par with any other Mexican restaurant only it's smaller than most and has more table and chair seating than booths. We will definitely be stopping by again."
